The Louis M. Groen Nature Preserve opened to the public on Friday August 3, 2012. The entrance is located at the corner of Gingell Road and Waters Road in Johannesburg. The preserve is open for hiking during the summer and fall and will be a great place to cross country ski or snow shoe during the winter months.

The preserve is located on the site of an old lumbercamp and the remnants of the camp and sawmill are located on the property.
