Catch the fun of fishing in one of our 90 plus small lakes and rivers. Dozens of lakes are stocked with the catch of the day offering a variety of species of freshwater fish and a variety of seasons in which to pursue them. Otsego Lake is alive with Walleye, Perch, small-and large- mouth bass, pike, sturgeon and crappie, among other sport fish. Ice fisherman find Otsego Lake a great place to shanty up when the ice grows thick in the heart of Michigan's winter.

Sure, Gaylord's got loads of fantastic fishing lakes-they're those big blue blurbs all over the map-but did you know the area is stocked with a heap of streams chock full of the North's famous trout? "It's the best trout fishing in the Midwest." Simply put, that's how locals describe the lure of fishing in Otsego County.

Otsego County plays host to five favorite rivers: Black River, Pigeon River, AuSable River, Manistee River & Sturgeon.

For information on fishing in Otsego County use the Printable Guide to Fishing in the Gaylord Area.  Also visit the DNR website for seasons, license requirements and free fishing weekend information!
