 Memorial DayThe Gaylord Memorial Day Parade is scheduled for Monday, May 26 at 10:00 am. The parade will start at the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post downtown and will proceed to the memorial on the courthouse lawn.
 Gaylord to Mackinaw Trail SystemThe designated trailhead is located just north of downtown Gaylord on Fairview Road right across from the Soccer complex where parking is available. The view along the trail will take you from farmland to forest and beautiful country views. The trail is surfaced with a compacted crushed limestone; the same surface used on other Michigan trails including the Kal-Haven Sesquicentennial Trail, Paint Creek Trail, and within Mackinaw City.  Free Fishing WeekendEnjoy the Gaylord areas beautiful lakes and streams while fishing in the Gaylord area on June 7 & 8, 2008. Michigan's Free Fishing Weekends are two special days when all fishing license fees will be waived for residents and outstate visitors alike on both inland and Great Lakes waters.  Pavilion On Court Summer Events!Need something to do on a Friday night? Come downtown Gaylord under The Pavilion on Court Street for the Summer Concert Series from June through August sponsored by the Downtown Development Authority. The Gaylord Downtown Merchants Association plays host to Free “Classic Movie Nights” under The Pavilion on Court Saturday evenings at dusk. Farmers markets are held every Saturday, May 24 through June; every Wednesday and Saturday July through June; and don't miss the Antique and Collectibles shows May 17 & September 6.  Alpenfest 2008 Alpenfest July 15-19, 2008! Just in...Budweiser Clydesdale horses to be in the Alpenfest Parade on Saturday July, 19th. Be sure not to miss this! Come home to Alpenfest in Gaylord, home of the World's Largest Coffee Break and where Main Street magically transforms into the Alpenstrasse. Artist from all over the country display their crafts, and area vendors offer up tasty ethnic treats. The carnival lights up the night sky and fills the air with the sounds of laughter.

 Elk Viewing In The Gaylord AreaThe Pigeon River State Forest’s expansive 105,000 acres with the Midwest’s only free ranging elk herd offers a unique wilderness experience that is just a short drive from downtown Gaylord. The Department of Natural Resources maintains this excellent elk habitat through careful forest and wildlife management.
 Beautiful Parks In The Gaylord AreaMultiple parks surround the Gaylord area. The recently renovated Doumas Park is a great place for a family to spend an afternoon.
Just south of Main Street...the recently paved and lighted Aspen Park gives visitors the opportunity to play a game on one of the two tennis courts or enjoy the natural wonders of Gaylord's gently rolling, wooded terrain without venturing far from town.
