kidsoutdoorsotsego@gmail.comWinter Outdoor Fun for families with young children. Snowshoe, explore woods, warm up at the bonfire, enjoy snow games. This will be KOO’s twelfth Winter Fun Day!
• Activities are primarily for children birth to eight, with their parents/ other caregivers. Older siblings are very welcome too.
• No charge.
• Parents, you are with your children at all times.
• Families come and go as you wish.
• We are outside all the time, so dress for the weather that day. The cabin will not be open.
• Bring your own water and snacks.
• Accessibility: trail is packed snow, suitable for snowshoes, sleds, walking in boots. Location is knee deep snow.
All activities are non-motorized.
You can bring your own snowshoes, or Headwaters Land Conservancy will be there with loaners for kids and adults. Thanks, HWLC!
Activities will include…
• Nature hikes & exploring. Trail loops are marked in the woods – your family can head out on your own or go out with others. What will you discover?
• Sled rides on the trails (parents pull!). Bring your sled or borrow one of ours.
• We will have a bonfire! We’ll mark spaces so that groups can keep a social distance.
• Snow Mazes & Snow Angels
• Digging!
• Drawing for outdoor prizes. You must be present; it will be at noon.
• Make-it projects- they will be ‘Take-it and Make-it’ for your family to take and do at home.
Important: COVID precautions will be in place:
• Keep six feet of distance between your family group and others.
• Because we’re outside, risk is lower, but wear a face mask if it’s necessary to get closer to someone not in your family group.
• We’ll have a hand sanitizing station for you to use as needed.
Parking will be behind the Gaylord Middle School. Follow the KOO Winter Fun signs.
No porta-john this year.
