Marketing Assistant
Part-Time Position: 25-28 Hours per week
Pay Range: $14 – $16 \ Hour
Reports To: Director of Marketing and Communications
The Gaylord Area Convention & Tourism Bureau is a non-profit marketing agency funded by Public Act 59. As we are funded through hotel room assessments, our primary mission is to promote the Gaylord area in a positive, informative and exciting manner to encourage guests to visit for overnight stays. Our tag line, “All Outdoors,” reflects our four-season outdoor recreation brand. The Gaylord Golf Mecca is also a branch of the Tourism Bureau and we collectively represent 17 championship golf courses. Along with promoting golf and outdoor recreation, the Tourism Bureau supports the local community through event sponsorships and enhancements that can be enjoyed by visitors and locals alike.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Serves as a key position in the Marketing Team of the Tourism Bureau
Meet weekly with Marketing Director to schedule all Facebook, E-Blast, Twitter and other social media communications
Monitor all social media channels for consumer and visitor comments and offer assistance or respond when necessary to shed Gaylord in the best possible light to guests and visitors
Make photo requests from social media channels and maintain permissions
Assist with ad sales, production, proofreading and delivery of Snowmobile Map, Visitor Guide, Northern Michigan Golfer and all other guides and brochures
Assist with all media requests for information, images and inbound and outbound media familiarization tours
Compile media kits, develop media thumb drive with images
Work with member lodging properties for participation in all events including ski free, free golf, and room blocks for requested events
Work with member and non-member businesses for weekly entertainment schedule, post to website
Assist in the preparation for travel and trade shows and attend shows when possible
Compile a monthly report of stories, photos, mentions of Gaylord and Gaylord properties
Review website regularly to assure information is accurate and relevant
Take inventory of office supplies and complete ordering; assist with maintaining inventory of souvenirs and merchandise
Be knowledgeable of Visitor Center duties and provide assistance as needed answering phones, greeting visitors and covering lunches or time off
Assist with copying, filing, scanning documents and other clerical duties as needed
GROWTH OPPORTUNITIES:
Help train, schedule and assist volunteers with working in our Visitor Center or Visitor Pod at various travel related events
In conjunction with Executive Director, will work on bid opportunities for events coming to Gaylord and will be key point of contact for Michigan Sports Commission
