Sandwiches – Not Just Peanut Butter and Jelly Anymore!

What is the timeless #1 go-to meal for fussy children?  While peanut butter and jelly sandwiches may have saved many of us from starving, over the years we grew to crave more between our bread.  Fortunately, Gaylord is filled with a heaping helping of appetizing options that do not require a fork or plate!

Is National Sandwich Day an actual holiday?  Absolutely not.  Is it worth celebrating?  You guessed it!  Treat yourself to something scrumptious on Friday, November 3rd in honor of an everyday delicacy…the sandwich!

A few of our local favorites include…  

The Squirrely Burger from (of course) The Blind Squirrel.  Don’t worry, it is NOT made with squirrel meat.  This tower of deliciousness starts out with 2 beef patties, bacon, ham and onion rings.  Top it all off with an assortment of veggies and cheeses and you’re in for a taste bud sensation like no other!

Alpine Tavern’s catch of the day

The Crispy Whitefish Sandwich from Alpine Tavern.  A true palette pleaser, you will not be disappointed with the flaky tenderness of white fish paired with freshly sliced tomatoes and homemade, tangy tartar sauce.  If you’re like me, you will want to add cheese to this mouthwatering morsel…because in my opinion, cheese makes everything better.

 

Feeling saucy at The Iron Pig

The Pulled Chicken Sandwich from The Iron Pig Smokehouse.  I dip everything.  If something comes with sauce on it, I will always ask for more.  I’m absolutely hooked on The Iron Pig’s smokehouse sauce, and it pairs perfectly with their tender, lightly smoked pulled chicken. 

Ebels Smoked Brisket Dip from Treetops Resort.  Served with aged cheddar and jalapeno cheese on a grilled baguette, this succulent sandwich is brought to perfection with a dip in savory Au Jus.  Still craving more?  Round it off with crispy onion rings and you have the perfect meal to satisfy your hunger!
