Hello KOO friends, happy winter!

Your family is invited to our next Kids Outdoors Family Hike and activity, a fun snowy morning with us and Conservation District Education Specialist Kelly at the Otsego Conservation District Community Garden.  We look forward to teaming up for another December event together.

This will be…

·         Saturday December 13, 2025

·         10:00 am to noon

·         At the Community Garden, Gaylord MI   (Otsego Conservation District)

Our activities will be geared to young children, birth to eight, with their Parents/ Caregivers.  And other family members of all ages are welcome too !    We’ll

·         Have a hand-warming bonfire, and hot cider and chocolate.

·         Kelly will do SNOW VOLCANOS again.

·         Hike and explore the trails, doing kid distances and taking time to explore.   We’ll keep to the Garden portion of the grounds, since the woods are not fully restored after the March ice storm. There is LOTS to discover!

·         We’ll have snowshoes for you to borrow, and sleds for pulling kids on the trail, OR bring your own.

·         We’ll do a couple of winter make-it projects in the indoor classroom.

  • The garden’s restrooms will be open.

As usual with KOO:

Parents, you are with your children at all times.

Come and go as you wish.  It’s OK to come later and leave earlier.

Free of charge.

Open to all area families.

We’re outside much of the morning, so dress for the weather that day.

Directions,:

From the roundabout on North Center Street (Old 27 North) on the north side of Gaylord, turn east onto Livingston Blvd.  Follow the Community Garden and KOO signs.   The address is 459 Livingston Blvd, Gaylord.

Organized by ‘Kids Outdoors Otsego’ (KOO), in partnership with Otsego Conservation District.

Headwaters Land Conservancy will be providing the snowshoes to borrow, both kid and adult sizes.  Thanks!!   Their snowshoe loan program is a great way to borrow gear to go snowshoeing with your kids and friends.
